The 9 Best White Nail Polishes

The 9 Best White Nail Polishes

Finding the right white nail polish is surprisingly hard. Some are streaky, some are chalky, and some look like you’ve painted your nails with Wite-Out. I’ve been on a mission to find the best white nail lacquer out there, from the super opaque to the soft and milky.

I’ve tried so many to find polishes that actually apply smoothly and last. I looked for great coverage and real staying power. These are the ones that actually live up to the hype.

The Best White Nail Lacquers I Tested

Zoya Nail Polish Lucy

Zoya Nail Polish Lucy

You can get this one for about $14. If you love a minimalist look or a classic French manicure, this is your polish. It gives a gorgeous, neutral milky off-white finish that’s super versatile.

I love how it makes my nails look healthy and shiny without being too loud. It’s a sheer creme formula that’s also Big 10-free, so I feel good about wearing it. It just has this nail-brightening effect that looks so clean.

The Downside: To get it looking less sheer, you really need to apply three coats to get close to full coverage.

OPI Nail Lacquer Alpine Snow

OPI Nail Lacquer Alpine Snow

At around $11, this is a classic for a reason. OPI’s Alpine Snow is the whitest of whites. If you want a crisp, totally opaque look, this is it.

It’s so richly pigmented that you get full coverage in just a couple of coats. I use it as a base for nail art or just on its own when I want a bold, clean manicure. It’s a fantastic all-rounder.

The Downside: I’ve found that the bottle can get thick and a little goopy over time.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod

This one is usually under $10. It’s my top pick for a gel-like manicure I can do at home without a UV lamp. The staying power is seriously impressive.

The opacity is rich and the unique flat brush makes application so easy and smooth. When I pair it with the Miracle Gel top coat, my manicure stays chip-free for up to a week, sometimes even longer.

The Downside: You really do need to buy the separate top coat to get that long-lasting, chip-free wear.

Essie Nail Polish Blanc

Essie Nail Polish Blanc

For about $10, Essie’s Blanc is perfect for a clean, fresh look. It’s a snowy white cream that’s bright but not harsh. It has a knack for making my hands look a little more tan.

I love the salon-quality shine it gives off. It’s also a vegan formula, which is a nice bonus. It just looks so crisp and flattering for everyday wear.

The Downside: If I’m not careful and apply it too quickly, it can definitely get a little streaky.

NARS Nail Polish Ecume

This is a luxury option at $20. When I want a truly chic, pure white, I reach for this. The formula is just fantastic and gives knockout color.

The rich pigmentation means I get a professional-looking finish at home. It’s one of those polishes that just feels high-end from the bottle to the brush to the final result.

The Downside: The price point is definitely higher than your average drugstore polish.

Zoya Luminous Nail Perfector

Zoya Luminous Nail Perfector

This polish costs about $15. It’s less of a color and more of a nail treatment, and I’m obsessed. It’s a sheer, milky-white that actually helps improve the look of my natural nails.

I wear it alone for a super healthy, shiny result. It’s buildable and even works as a ridge filler. My nails just look better after I’ve worn this for a few days.

The Downside: It’s very sheer, so if you’re looking for an opaque white, this isn’t the one unless you’re willing to build up many layers.

Essie Nail Polish Marshmallow

Essie Nail Polish Marshmallow

Another great Essie option for around $10. This is the ultimate milky sheer white. It gives that soft, cloudy look that’s so popular and flattering.

The formula is smooth and you can build it up from a sheer wash to a more opaque, squishy marshmallow look. It always looks so smooth and even after two or three coats.

The Downside: The first coat can be pretty streaky, so you have to be patient and trust the process for the second coat to even things out.

ORLY Nail Lacquer White Tips

ORLY Nail Lacquer White Tips

This polish from ORLY is about $10. As the name suggests, it’s incredible for precise French tips. It’s a reliable, opaque white that gets the job done.

The application is smooth and it becomes fully opaque really quickly, which is great for nail art. I’ve tested it over black polish and the opacity holds up, which is very impressive.

The Downside: The formula is a little on the thinner side, so you have to control your brush strokes to avoid flooding your cuticles.

Dolce & Gabbana Nail Lacquer Innocence

At $26, this is definitely a splurge. But if you want a luxury cream white, this one is gorgeous. It provides such an elegant, opaque finish.

Everything about it feels high-end, from the smooth application to the glossy wear. It’s a rich, pigmented lacquer that makes my manicure feel extra special.

The Downside: It’s expensive, making it more of a treat than an everyday polish for most people.

A good white nail polish is a staple in any collection. It can be a bold statement or a clean, subtle look depending on the shade and finish you pick.

Whether you want a sheer wash of color or a crisp, opaque finish, there’s a white polish on this list for you. I’ve found my forever favorites, and I bet you will too.
