When I first got pregnant, I was so worried about maternity clothes. I had these awful images of shapeless floral dresses and jeans with weird, saggy panels. I just wanted to feel like myself, but with a giant basketball under my shirt.

But I learned you don’t need a whole new wardrobe. It’s really about finding a few amazing, comfortable pieces that grow with you. After trying a ton of stuff, I found the best maternity stores and specific items that actually made me feel good.

So here’s my list of the absolute best places to buy maternity clothes, from leggings I lived in to dresses that made me feel human again.

These are the pieces I wore on repeat. They’re comfortable enough for lounging on the couch but nice enough to wear out for errands without feeling like a total slob.

These leggings are $108, and honestly, they’re worth it.

I put these on in my second trimester and basically didn’t take them off until I gave birth. The Spacedye fabric is ridiculously soft and feels like a gentle hug on your belly. It’s stretchy and supportive without ever feeling restrictive.

They stay up, never dig in, and feel totally weightless. I wore them for walks, prenatal yoga, and just living my life. They were perfect for my growing belly when other leggings started to feel too tight.

Old Navy is a lifesaver for affordable maternity clothes, and their Rockstar jeans are no exception. They have a demi-panel that sits under the belly, which I preferred in the beginning. They’re comfy and durable.

What I really love is that they come in different inseam lengths, which is great for tall moms like me. The quality is surprisingly good for the price.

The Downside: The tags can be super itchy, so I had to cut them out immediately.

The wide-leg style is very chic and doesn’t scream “maternity.” They hold their shape and color perfectly after washing. These are the jeans you buy if you want to feel fabulous.
