The 9 Best Loofahs

The 9 Best Loofahs

I think we can all agree that a good loofah makes a shower so much better. A weak, flimsy one just doesn’t cut it. You need something that can whip up a mountain of suds from just a tiny drop of body wash.

So I spent weeks scrubbing and sudsing my way through a pile of the most popular bath sponges out there. I tested everything from classic poufs to natural, plant-based options to find the ones that are actually worth buying. Here’s what I found.

Our Bath Sponge Rankings

Shower Bouquet XL Bath Sponge SB-4

Shower Bouquet XL Bath Sponge SB-4

This 4-pack comes in at $16.99. I really liked this one for its sheer size. It’s huge, which means you can actually reach your back without turning into a pretzel.

It’s made with bamboo charcoal and feels super soft and fluffy, but it still gets the exfoliating job done. I have sensitive skin, and this one didn’t irritate me at all. It also creates an insane amount of lather, which I love.

The Downside: I couldn’t find an expiration date on the packaging, so you just have to guess when it’s time to toss it.

DadyMart Bath Shower Loofah Sponge

For $8.99, you get a set of these. This one strikes a really nice balance between being soft and firm. It wasn’t scratchy, but I could definitely feel it scrubbing away dead skin.

It lathered up really fast. You get a nice, thick foam without using a ton of soap. My skin felt smooth after using it, and there was no redness or discomfort.

The Downside: It’s on the smaller side. Reaching the middle of my back was a bit of a struggle.

WhaleLife Bath Body Poufs

WhaleLife Bath Body Poufs

This pack of four is $9.99. If you’re looking for a serious scrub, this is a good choice. The bamboo charcoal gives it a bit of extra exfoliating power.

It really suds up and left my skin feeling incredibly smooth, almost like I’d used a body scrub. It felt like a deep clean every time.

The Downside: If your skin is sensitive, this one might feel a little too rough for you. It’s effective, but not the gentlest option.

Equate Beauty Gentle Exfoliation Bath Sponge

At just $5.95, this is a total bargain. I was surprised by how well it worked for the price. It’s super gentle, so it’s perfect for everyday use.

It creates a ton of foam and does a decent job of sloughing off dead skin without feeling like sandpaper. It’s a solid, no-frills option that gets the job done.

The Downside: Like a few others, it’s a bit small, which makes washing your back a challenge.

Metene Bath Shower Loofah Sponge

This 5-pack costs $11.99. The best part about this set is that each loofah is a different color. It’s perfect if you’ve got a family and don’t want to mix up your sponges.

The mesh is woven really tightly, which makes it feel durable and helps it produce a thick, fluffy lather. It felt very gentle on my skin.

The Downside: Again, the size makes it hard to reach your entire back.

Crafts Of Egypt Egyptian Natural Loofah

Crafts Of Egypt Egyptian Natural Loofah

This 3-pack of natural loofahs is $17.99. This is a completely different experience from the plastic poufs. It’s made from an actual plant, so it’s way more eco-friendly.

It’s very firm and does an amazing job at exfoliating and getting your circulation going. You just have to soak it in water for a few minutes before use to soften it up. My skin felt so invigorated after using it.

The Downside: It feels really prickly and rough at first. You definitely have to get used to the texture.

The Body Shop Skin Sponge

You can get this sponge for $7.00. I love that it’s made from recycled materials. It’s designed to make your body wash go further by creating more lather, and it definitely does.

It gives a decent exfoliation for daily use. It’s a simple little sponge that works as advertised.

The Downside: It’s pretty small, so forget about washing your back. It also felt a little rougher than I expected.

AmazerBath Shower Loofah Sponge

This set of four is $9.99. These things are huge and dense! At 75 grams, they feel much more substantial than your average loofah.

Because they’re so fluffy, they create an absolutely luxurious lather with just a tiny bit of soap. The exfoliation is effective but still feels gentle.

The Downside: Some people find they get less soft after a few weeks of use.

EcoTools 2-In-1 EcoPouf Bath Loofah

This one costs just $5.00. It’s another great eco-friendly option, made from recycled netting. Plus, you can toss it in the washing machine to clean it.

It’s incredibly soft and gentle, perfect for anyone who doesn’t want a harsh scrub. It still managed to get my skin feeling smooth and clean.

The Downside: Because it’s so soft, it takes a little more effort to work up a big lather compared to the scratchier options.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of these, it just depends on what you’re looking for. Whether you want a super-soft cloud of suds or a hardcore natural scrubber, there’s a loofah out there for you.

Just remember to replace them regularly! Most experts say every 3-4 weeks for a plastic pouf and a bit longer for a natural one if you clean it properly. Happy scrubbing!
